Environment

Our commitment

Our activities play a key part in driving new Circular Economy Business Models. We are committed to reducing our potential environmental impact in our local communities. Our objective is to protect the environment for future generations and reduce the uptake of scarce resources so we can protect our planet

We work with specialist partners to drive resource-efficient business models that reduce the life cycle impacts of new products by using secondary metal resources. Our recycling activities help reduce the environmental impact of using metals in our economy. For example, each tonne of scrap steel that is recycled saves 1.9 tonnes of iron ore and 0.6 tonnes of coal (source: EEF)

EU figures indicate that using recycled scrap steel to make new steel reduces:

Air pollution by 86%
Water consumption by 40%
Water pollution by 76%

We strongly believe in preserving our planet.  We aim to increase our green footprint through our commitment to using secondary metal resources.

The Circular Economy Model takes a regenerative approach and we have adopted this in our business strategy.

Our objective is to protect the environment for future generations and reduce the uptake in scarce resources so we can protect our planet.

This could not be more urgent as global warming increases temperatures, with a rise in carbon dioxide amongst other pollutants.

Almost every type of metal can be recycled and reused to create high-quality products. With some metals, such as aluminium, for example, it takes less energy and natural resources to manufacture products from recycled materials as opposed to using virgin materials.

CO2 emissions are reduced by approximately 200 million tonnes a year when recycled raw materials, including metals, are used in manufacturing.
